From Angela Palmer, your Guide to Acne

In addition to topical treatments and oral acne medications, procedural treatments like chemical peels and light treatments are sometimes used to treat acne.

Since there is a lot of curiosity surrounding these types of procedures (as well as misinformation) I thought we'd take a look at some of these professional treatments this week.

~ Angela

Light Duty Chemical Peels
These are generally where most people start when they want a chemical peel done. They're also called "lunchtime peels." and can be performed at the salon or your dermatologist's office.

What To Expect During a Microdermabrasion Treatment
Microdermabrasion is another way to have a powerful exfoliation done. The technician can also do pore-cleansing extractions making this a double-whammy of a treatment.

Photodynamic Therapy Light Treatments
Microdermabrasion and light-duty peels are OK for mild to moderate breakouts, but aren't the best choices for more serious forms of acne. In this case, photodynamic therapy (PDT) may be something your dermatologist recommends.

Acne Treatments at the Medi-Spa
"Spa" treatments are becoming more popular as ways to help clear the skin. Here are some of the treatments you may find at your local medi-spa.
