By Amy Morin, LCSW, Editor-in-Chief Top of Mind While many emotions are uncomfortable—sadness, disappointment, and embarrassment to name a few—I think anxiety is one of the most difficult emotions to tolerate.
And I have plenty of personal experience dealing with it. I was a really anxious kid who got physically ill before school most days.
Becoming a therapist helped me learn a lot of strategies to manage anxiety. Over the years, I've found what works best for me when I get a sudden spike in my anxiety.
So while these same exact strategies won't work for everyone, this combination is effective in helping me function. Reading through what helps me might help you launch a plan to discover what helps you deal with anxiety (or another emotion you find to be extremely uncomfortable).
