Dear Verywell readers,

Nearly half of Americans say their mental health has been negatively impacted by the pandemic. In addition to the uncertainty and stress of a global pandemic, the issues faced by essential workers and those who have lost their jobs, spending time in quarantine can take a serious mental toll. Read more and learn how to protect your mental health here.

It just so happens that May is Mental Health Awareness Month. One small silver lining right now is that talking about mental health is becoming more and more destigmatized. Last week, we kicked off the month with an Instagram takeover by our Expert Review Board Member Amy Morin, LCSW talking about how it's OK to say you're not OK when someone asks 'How are you?' Follow along this month with us as we share more real talk and advice from our experts and editorial team.

Have a safe and healthy week,
