From Angela Palmer, your Guide to Acne

OK, so Proactiv has been around for ages. When we think "acne treatment" we inevitably think "Proactiv".

Ask around and you'll find people who love, love, love this product. Just as many say it's a complete rip-off.

So, what's the deal? Why does the same product get such polarizing reviews?

I'll try to cut through the hype and get you the facts on this well-know and oft-used acne product.

~ Angela

Does Proactiv Really Work?
For those of you who might not know, Proactiv is an over-the-counter acne treatment product that utilizes a 3-step system. It's all over the TV, internet, and even in kiosks at the mall. But does it really work?

Proactiv Alternatives
If you'd rather not commit to monthly shipments from Proactiv, picking up a three-step program from your local drugstore as needed is another option. These kits have the same ingredients, and work just like Proactiv. (They cost less too. Bonus!)

Build Your Own "Proactiv-Like" Treatment Routine
Proactiv isn't exorbitantly priced, but it isn't cheap either. To save a bit of cash, you can create your own three-step treatment system. You probably have most of what you need on your bathroom shelf right now.

Product Review: Proactiv X Out
Proactiv has expanded there product line in recent years. One of the newer additions is X Out. Instead of a three-step program, X Out is just one step product created for their teen consumers. Read the review to find out more.

From Angela Palmer, your Guide to Acne

Teen acne is so very common. Still, sometimes you may feel like you're the only one with pimples. (Trust me, you're not.)

In fact, many of your friends with "clear" skin are probably using acne treatments right now. They've just found ones that work for them.

You can find treatment that works for you too! Read on for some of your options.

~ Angela

Benzoyl Peroxide
Benzoyl peroxide is a fairly effective acne treatment. And you can get it over-the-counter at any drug store.

Retin-A Micro
If over-the-counter treatments aren't working, a prescription treatment is your next option. Retin-A Micro is a really popular acne treatment for teens, and it works quickly.

Topical Antibiotics
Your dermatologist might also prescribe a topical antibiotic. Topical antibiotics are usually prescribed along with another acne medication. They just work better that way.
