From Angela Palmer, your Guide to Acne

One of the hardest things about having acne is waiting for the treatments to work... or not work. Seriously, sometimes it seems like there aren't any effective treatments.

I get your frustration. So, here are a few things you can do if your acne treatment results are less than stellar.

Until next week,

~ Angela

Why Aren't My Treatments Working?
Figuring out why a treatment isn't working is the best starting point. Here are a few reasons behind the disappointing results.

Should I Go Back To The Dermatologist?
The next step -- see a dermatologist. Wait, you say, I've already been to the dermatologist.

What To Do When Prescription Treatments Aren't Working
In fact, you're using the medications your doctor prescribed right now, and you're still breaking out. So, now what?

What I Wish I Knew About Acne (Before I Started Treatment)
There is no one-size-fits-all treatment, which is why it can take so much time to clear up. Understanding how treatments work (and why they fail) will ultimately help you clear your skin.

Halloween is nearly here. This week, we'll talk about how you can wear your Halloween costume makeup without making your skin break out, and get a definitive answer on if those trick-or-treat chocolates are really causing pimples.

And I had to throw it an article about a real-life gruesome creature that roams the earth (it really does relate to skin care!)

Have a great week,

~ Angela

Skin Care

From Angela Palmer, your Guide to Acne

Red, dry, peeling and flaking skin -- it happens when you're treating acne. But I remember being just as upset about the side effects of treatment as I was about the breakouts themselves.

Part of my problem, though, was I had no idea how to effectively care for my skin during treatment, or what to do when side effects popped up. So I hope these articles will help you beat treatment side effects.

Keep using your treatments this week!

~ Angela

Benzoyl Peroxide Is Drying Me Out. What Can I Do?
The first treatment that actually showed a bit of promise for me was benzoyl peroxide. Unfortunately, it also gave me a major case of lizard skin.

Help! Retin-A Is Making Me Peel!
Another treatment that is notorious for causing dry skin is Retin-A. But all topical retinoids can dry out your skin, so these tips work if you're using another topical retinoids too.

How Much Is Too Much?
My biggest problem, really, was that I was creating the worst of the side effects myself. I was basically soaking my face with treatment lotion. Definitely too much.

How To Choose The Right Moisturizer
One of the best things you can do if your skin is dry and flaky -- moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. The right product won't break you out either.
